Next stop Aquatic Centre - off the train for a 1 hour swim, then back on the train to the next station - a bunch ride of 70km... then refuel with a hot choc & muffin before getting back on the train and home for the day to unload bags, wash, dry and repack and wait for the train to start agin......And so the train continues day after day, bags on bags off, toot toot.......
... time for a change.....off the train for a day.
Sunday morning was the RATS Winter Duathlon Road Race - 4.5km run/18km road ride/3km run. Well that was the plan anyway, unfortunately a tree had fallen across the road, which mean 3 laps of a shorten bike course yea right! the course was now approx 26km with each lap consisting of a hill, which seemed to get steeper each lap. The run was the same course as the off-road Duathlon a 3 lap course first then 2 laps after the bike. For some silly reason I thought the second run was going to be easier than the first duathlon. I was way off track, the legs didn't fire for the second run and it was a struggle all the way. My calves were protesting all 2 laps and there was nothing left in the tank for an attempt to sprint to the finish. One more off-road Duathlon to come in 4 weeks.
I'm now back on the train with new tracks to travel for the next 3 weeks - and where is this train taking me - Mountain Road Hill reps, Spin class, MTB night ride, Bunch Ride and the last ride of the week, a 60min high cadence bike with a 30 min run off the bike. Train still stopping at the Aquatic Centre 3 times and run clinic on Tuesday morning - looking forward to taper week for the last RATS Duathlon.
The train does stop every so often for a social life, and last weekend I had a busy social weekend. First there was a mid winter Solstice supper/drinks on the Friday & we had our RATS Awards Dinner on the Saturday night. Friday night I think I was one of the first to leave - 10pm and no wine touched my lips due to a 6am swim start, then a 2 hour bunch ride, before heading to Taupo for a First Time Ironman Seminar, then back for the Award Dinner 'R theme'. Think we were nearly last to leave, and only one glass of wine, due to a 90 min run scheduled for the Sunday.
